Pictured on the fight is the Brainerd Building. It is the original site of Libertyville High school and the campus where Marlon Brando attended school from 1939-1941. As the district grew, the building's site was no longer sufficient to house the freshman class. Thankfully the historic site is being restored as a community center.

“Bits About ‘Em”
Bud Brando likes the fast Lake Forest types. What is the matter with Libertyville, Bud? Do the girls know you too well?
Brando’s friend, Bob Hoskins, recalled meeting Brando in homeroom. “Hoskins nominated his classmate to be class vice president simply because it was October and Brando-ever the rebel-was wearing a T-shirt”(Lissau 9).
The two became friends and started a dixieland band, the Seven Pork Chops. Brando’s song,“Turn Off the Moon,” made it on the song hits at LHS (Lissau 9, Drops of Ink 2/2/1940). “Probably the most outstanding of the stellar attractions-outstanding of especially in quantity and quality of performance-were Brando and Hoskins. Mr. Hoskins revealed himself as a budding Alec Templeton with several fetching one-finger renditions of popular and classical pieces. Later in the program these two sang “Blueberry Hill” with Mr. Brando drawing much applause for his clear soprano obligato” (Drops of Ink 11/15/1940).
despite his lack of enthusiasm for academics, Marlon was quite the partaker in activities. According to the school newspaper, Brando participated in football and track, specializing in hurdles. He was elected vice president of the junior dramatics club aka curtain raisers (drops of ink 1939). however, a libertyville high drama coach once told him he'd never make it as an actor (lissau 9).
